Kanwal is a multidisciplinary artist, dancer, storyteller and poet. A graduate of Second City’s Conservatory Program in Improvisational Comedy, Kanwal weaves humour into all her artistic expressions. A daughter of the Indus River and the Sindhu people and keeper of the oral dialect Memoni, Kanwal inherited her sense of humour and love for storytelling from her villager grandmothers. She identifies herself has a Pakistani-Egyptian-Emirati-Canadian and reflects her nomadic experiences through performance. She has studied Kathak and various Middle Eastern and Central Asian dance traditions. After completing an OCAD course in Spoken Word (2013), Kanwal participated in the Sound Poets Circle, SpeakOut Poetry and the Feminist Art Conference (2014) in Toronto.
